Appreciative Inquiry at the University of Virginia

The Appreciative Inquiry at UVA Rotunda Image

The Appreciative Inquiry at UVA logo, the rotunda collage, is by Lucia Cushman. Ms. Cushman is an 87-year old woman, nearly blind from macular degeneration. Her collages are constructed with paint peeled from the oft-adorned Beta Bridge on Rugby Road.

The original of this piece was given as a gift to her physician, Danny Becker. We immediately felt a kinship with this paint chip collage. Appreciative Inquiry is all about reframing and transformation. What could be more transformative than turning old paint chips into a thing of beauty and joy?
